Summer started on May 1st and all the children in Scoil San Phroinsias are really hoping that summer 09 will be remembered as a warm, sunny one!
Mí Bealtaine atá ann. Did you know that in Celtic times a celebration was held on the 1st of Bealtaine to celebrate the arrival of summer?
We are also eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Volvo Ocean Race in Galway. Click on www.letsdoitschools.com to find out more.

Green School Inspection 22.4.09

Last Thursday, the 22.04.09, the green school inspector came. She talked to the green school committee. The green school inspector asked a lot of questions to find out if our school was green enough to get it's first green flag. The committee showed her around the school . She thought the school was so clean that she has recommended us to receive the GREEN FLAG!! We are getting it some time in May. We are absolutely delighted and are glad all our hard work is going to pay off. Congratulations everyone.

Put Litter in it's Place

We received an excellent dvd about litter and it's effects from Dublin City Council this week. Did you know that it costs our government over €100 million every year to combat the litter problem in Ireland? Even worse, approximately 100,000 marine mammals and turtles and over 700,000 sea birds are killed worldwide by litter every year. Almost half the litterbugs in Ireland are under 18. Make sure you are not one of them!
