Spring Clean 2009

It's official: Scoil San Phroinsias are holding their first Green School Action Day on Wednesday 4th February 2009.
On this day, the whole school will be involved in one big clean up of the school and school grounds. Any parents who would like to help on the day are asked to let their child's teacher know. Click on the Green School to find out more.

It's Electrifying!

Go to Ms. O'Byrne's 3rd class blog to see what they learnt this month about electricity and magents.

Catholic School's Week 2009

Did you know that it is Catholic School's Week this week? Well it is, and here in Scoil San Phroinsias we are marking this week in a special way.
  • All the senior classes are taking turns to go to morning mass this week.
  • All the classes have been making sure their prayer corners and class altars are looking spic and span.
  • At 12noon today, the bell rang and we all said a prayer. The older classes said the Angelus and the younger classes said their own prayer.
Did you notice the green cloth on the prayer corner in 5th class? That is because it is ordinary time now in the church calendar, and green signifies ordinary time.

How Green is Green?

This week the Coiste Glas are busy asking questions! They are asking, counting, looking and checking to see just how good we have been at putting their recommendations into place. So watch out.....they may wander into your classroom today to check up on you!!

Lá le Pádraig 2009

Preparations for this years St. Patrick's Day parade are in full swing now. The children from 3rd to 6th class are busy learning a new selection of tunes on tinwhistle, accordion and belyra. Over the next few weeks, you will notice the school band marching around Tirellan, as they practice for this year's big parade. We are all hoping that the weather on March 17th will be nothing like January's weather!

Welcome Back

Fáilte ar ais to everyone, pupils and staff alike. We have rarely seen such an icy start to a new term. Lots of exciting things will be happening in Scoil San Phroinsias this term, aswell as lots of hard work! The senior classes will have to opportunity to learn how to Kickbox. Swimming lessons resume next week and will be held in Leisureland this term. The Coiste Glas are planning an Action Day for February, a day when we will show off all the hard work we have been doing towards earning our Green Flag. The photo shows Ms. Farrelly's Rang a 6 who didn't waste any time getting outside with the litter pickers....well done for being the first class to pick litter in 2009!
