Winter Arrives

Welcome back to all the students and teachers after a lovely mid-term break. As winter begins, the children in Scoil San Phroinsias continue their war against litter. Today saw Ms. Farrelly's 6th class scouring the clós and school grounds for litter. You can see them in action in their class blog. We hope that everyone plays their part in keeping our school clean and litter free. All the children in Scoil San Phroinsias are learning a rap about keeping our school clean. The rap was composed by Adam Forde in 1st class. You can read the rap on our green school blog.

Bring and Buy Sale 2008

Our annual bring and buy sale was held on Friday 24th October. It was a day of great fun and was organised by the two 6th classes. In addition to the buying and selling, there was face painting, fortune telling, card tricks, raffles and lots of fun to be had. A total of €950 was raised and all of the money is going to a special school in Peru which is run by the Columban Missionaries.

Banishing Litter

Scoil San Phroinsias are registered with the Green Schools Program, and are currently working on the first theme, which is litter and waste. All the classes from 1st up to 6th will be taking weekly turns to pick up litter around the school grounds. Congratulations to Ms. Groarke's 4th class and Mrs. Brown's 5th class for posting photos of themselves picking up litter. Click on Ms. Groarke's 4th class blog to see the photos. (Reminder: click on the Green School blog to find out when your class will be picking up litter!)

Feast of St. Francis

We celebrated the feast of St. Francis, October 4th, with a school mass today. The children sang, played their instuments and remembered the life story of this great saint, after whom our school is named.
